1. Double Hung Windows

This kind of window allows for the top and bottom to slide. They are a highly chosen type of window for several reasons:

Double hung windows aren’t perfect though. They are not known for being the most airtight window plus they have less open space.

They aren’t good for when space is limited or a walkway is outside. Cleaning the outer part isn’t impossible but it is no easy task either.

These are some of the coolest window types. What makes them so great is that picture windows are usually:

• Larger size
• Better sealed against air leaks
• Providing an amazing view
• The center of attention

All that glass can make for poorer insulation against heat and cold. Cleaning them can be very hard, especially if they are tall or higher up.

8. Bay/Bow Windows

Bay windows are the main type of window here. It means they extend outwards from the house. The difference is that bay windows usually have a straight edge shape while bow windows are curved.  Both share many of the same benefits:

Maintenance and replacement are typically costly. Cleaning can be challenging depending on their size.

9. Garden Style Windows

Get out your indoor green thumb for this window type! Like bay windows, this one extends from the house but is glass on all sides. This is a special window for people because:

• The two side windows can open

Cleaning the top window can be difficult, but nothing a step ladder cannot fix. Make sure it doesn’t interfere with the area outside.

10. Transom Windows

Transom windows are a common accent window found above doors or windows. They are traditionally fan-shaped, but they can be rectangular. They are found homes because:

Cleaning will usually involve a step ladder, but this type of window can be worth it.

11. Stationary Windows

This is more of a category of window than type. It refers to any window that doesn’t move, such as picture windows. This means they:

• Won’t leak as much air
• Come in a wide variety
• Can fit any home design

Cleaning the outside is hard, especially if they are higher up.
